Hello all,

I want to add a PN-8IPLA w/ PZ-24IPLA to an old NEAX2000IPS system in order to enable communications between it and an elastix server
i installed in PM#5, was able to give it an IP using MATWorX

attached is all the images that in my humble opinion might give some info needed in helping me, i am ready to supply anything else needed

i confirm that the software version is newer than r3300

So the challenges are listed below :

  1. I am not sure if the system need a special license for such card or not, can anyone please confirm that ?
  2. IF it does need a license, how to check if it is there ?
  3. if it is not there , how can i get one ?
  4. do i need the LTC cables for PM#5 for such card or not ?
  5. and finally if everything is done, how to set it up to accept incoming calls from the elastix

Ok so point 1, You don't need a license for the card, you need the license for the feature you want to use it with.

Point 2,  Not sure what license is needed but you have no IP licensing at all according to your list up.

Point 3, As I said earlier, see your PMs.

Point 4, Not unless you want to use the other half of the PIM.

Point 5, Unfortunately I can't help with that as I am in Australia and have no experience with Elastix but there will be techs on Tek-Tips who can help if you can get the licenses needed.

Thanks a lot for your reply

i read somewhere that each CPU has his own licenses, and as far as i can tell my system has CPUs

if the above is true, how can i check the licensees installed on each of them ?

Hi AhmadOkda,

I will try to help you, but first the questions.
1. What are the primary aims for installing PN-8IPLA w/ PZ-24IPLA? Do you need it for installing NEC IP-phones you have or for networking your system with CCIS over IP or for building system with Remote PIMs? This card is necessary only for these 3 features.
3. If you do want to connect to Elastix server (Asterisk in other words) with sip protocol then you need PN-8IPTA, not the PN-8IPLA card, and optional PZ-24IPLA. In this case no licenses are needed at all.
2. If any of p.1 are yes, then please, give the listing of command F89<01, 02, 03 etc.

Regards,
Sergei.

Hi srg

sorry for my late reply , i was sick with high fever

my reply to your inquiries are below

1- my primary aim is to create a SIP trunk to connect the elastix server to the local telephone network (NEAX2000), don't know if this is considered one fo the three cases this card is used for or i do need another card for such purpose

3- your #3 answered my question already, so i shall look for that card on ebay and order it, will update this thread once i receive and install the card

2- not needed anymore, right ?

i found the quoted below in a sheet file that i found online (attached)
is it correct ?

Quote:
1 CCIS Link license and 1 IP Trunk license is required per 8IPTA card

i don't understand a word from that sheet but i just want to confirm if such licenses are needed if my system has them already so i can order the card or not and save my cash

AhmadOkda,

first of all sorry for publishing not fully confirmed information regarding licenses needed for installing SIP-trunks on 2000IPS. I am really very sorry for that, 2000IPS installations were so long ago...

The updated information is as follows and is for Asia market only (see attachment):
1. Yes, you do need PN-8IPTA, not PN-8IPLA for SIP-trunking.
2. You do need one feature license BE101470/SB-1021 IPS FCCIS PROG-B1.
3. You don`t need IP-trunk feature license BE101472/SB-1023 IPS FIPTL PROG-B1.

I can help you with licenses in private order, simply PM me when needed.

Regards,
Sergei.

perfect

thanks a lot

will surely contact you once i get the card, although it seems that finding it for reasonable price is not an easy task

on a side note, since i already bought the 8IPLA, when you said "installing NEC IP-phones" can this be done using any softphone or must it be used with NEC branded ip-phones ?

Only NEC IP hardware or software (SP30) branded phones. Besides you will also need PZ-M606-A (Ethernet adapter card on the MP card) card for that purpose. And yet more licenses, of course.

Sergei.
